A Thai monk who repeatedly sheltered illegal Myanmar migrant workers has been arrested, Thai media reported.

A monk who sheltered illegal Myanmar migrant workers more than 20 times at a monastery on the border of Thailand’s Kanchanaburi province was arrested on June 19.

A special operation team was ordered to arrest the monk after it was discovered that he was using religious sites to shelter illegal workers.

The monk admitted to sheltering the illegal migrant workers more than 20 times.

Kanchanaburi province borders Myanmar and has many natural routes, so there are many illegal entries, and the governor of Kanchanaburi province said that he is being vigilant.
