A taxi driver raped two young girls aged 8 and 10 reading in the first grade in the town of Myawady, Kayin State, police sources reported.

Both sisters going to a high school (branch) in Myawady were raped by the man who rode them to and from their school daily.

On January 12, their teacher spotted the 8-year-old sister together with the taxi driver in an empty house in Ward No.4 and brought her back to the school. Then, the mother was informed to come to the school.

According to the questioning of the younger sister, the taxi driver picked up the two sisters from their school, placed them in two separate empty houses and raped them.

While the younger sister was being questioned, the older sister was brought back by a ward administrative official. The girls claimed that they were raped by him in an empty house on January 11 as well.  

Myawady Police Station has arrested and filed the rapist under Section 376 of the Penal Code.
