Tax exemption on imported sports gears under way

For the development of Myanmar sports sector, the matters relating to the tax exemption on imported sports gears will be submitted to the Union government, said Union Minister for Health and Sports Myint Htwe, at a meeting with Myanmar Sports Federation

“Sports federations can directly send their complaints about their needs and difficulties and suggestions to the Union Minister's email:[email protected]. In addition, the president of the sports federation and officials are to coordinate on the emergence of Sports Administration Complex comprised of sports halls including offices of Myanmar sports teams,” he added.

Ministry of Health and Sports has allotted an additional budget of around Ks23 billion to the Sports and Physical Education Department for the construction of sport training grounds and small sport complexes in cities.

With the aim of developing sports skills of students, the ministry plans to appoint sports graduates, youth athletes from sports science schools and selected Myanmar athletes, as physical education teachers, at basic education schools.

Currently, Ministry of Health and Sports is working to develop Myanmar sports in cooperation with Ministry of Education. The ministry will appoint the sufficient number of physical education teachers and use sports strategies of the countries which see the development of health and sports.

The ministry has opened B.A (sports) course in the university education. There are six sports and physical education training schools. Soon, the ministry will introduce cane ball at basic education schools in a bid to draw the attention of students in heath and sports activities.
