Tanintharyi CM goes to NPT after State Counsellor’s visit

DAWEI- Dr Le Le Maw, Chief Minister of Tanintharyi Region, immediately went to Nay Pyi Taw after the State Counsellor’s visit to Tanintharyi Region had concluded.

State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi held a meeting with the public in Dawei Township, the last item on her itinerary, in Tanintharyi Region on the evening of February 15th.

Later, she separately met with the Chief Minister of the Tanintharyi Region Government and her cabinet members at the special lounge of the Dawei Airport for about a half hour.

At the meeting, she[State Counsellor] reportedly warned the Regional Government Committee about complaints and findings. Later, the State Counsellor instructed the Regional Chief Minister to immediately come to Nay Pyi Taw, left for Nay Pyi Taw by an aircraft around 4pm of February 15th.

Afterwards, Dr Le Le Maw went to Nay Pyi Taw about 6:30pm, according to locals.

“I don’t know about her trip. I knew that she will be travelling but she didn’t tell me where,” said Ho Pin, Tanintharyi Regional Social Affairs Minister.

However, he confirmed that Chief Minister Dr Le Le Maw had travelled after the State Counsellor had separately met with her and cabinet members.

Sources close to the the Regional Government Committee and the Dawei Airport staff said that after she[Dr Le Le Maw] met with the State Counsellor, she had left for Nay Pyi Taw from around 6:30pm due to the meeting.

“We went to Nay Pyi Taw because all Chief Ministers form States and Regions were invited to attend the lunch on February 16th. So, she [Dr Le Le Maw] went to Nay Pyi Taw to attend the luncheon,” Zaw Lin Aung, Personnel Staff Officer of the Chief Minister Dr Le Le Maw, told Eleven Media Group yesterday morning.

He also added that Dr Le Le Maw went to Nay Pyi Taw solely to attend the lunch held at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw and that she would arrive back in Dawei on February 18th.

The State Counsellor had paid a three-day visit ito the Tanintharyi Region. During her tour, residents and students urged her to dismiss Chief Minister Dr Le Le Maw, Regional Chairman of National league for Democracy Aung Soe and Regional Planning and Finance Phyo Win Tun and to take actions against the alleged corruption committed by the Tanintharyi Region Government Committee.
