Super Cyclonic storm in Bay of Bengal may not affect Myanmar but flooding may occur

Super Cyclonic storms at the Bay of Bengal did not enter Myanmar but flash floods may occur in Myanmar, prompting the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement to issue preventive measures.

The storm may enter India, west of Bengal and Bangladesh on May 20 according to an international weather report. Although the storm may not enter Myanmar at present, it is estimated that it may affect the middle and northern section of Rakhine coast, southern part of Chin State on May 18 to May 20. The maximum sustained wind of 50-60 miles per hour and gusts may experience.

As a result, flash floods, strong wind, landslides and tidal waves may occur in some parts of Myanmar. Those living in coastal areas and fishermen need to listen to the weather report continuously and if necessary, strength of their houses should be checked, and cut trees’ branches that may fall on their houses.
