Stimulants worth Ks1.5 bn seized in Nawnghkio Township

According to the information released by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control, 1.5 billion kyats’ worth of psychotropic substances have been seized near the Oriental toll gate at Nawnghkio entrance in northern Shan State.

While waiting on a tipoff at the Oriental toll gate at Nawnghkio entrance at about 7 am on January 17, a combined team comprising members of the Anti-Drug Squad searched a Voxy vehicle going to Mandalay from Mongshu, southern Shan State, driven by Sai Aung Tun and accompanied by Sai Lut and Sai Salu, and found and seized 1.5 billion kyats’ worth of 3 million amphetamine tablets.

The driver and his two companions have been booked to be prosecuted as per the existing law, and those in connection with the crime are being sought after, as disclosed by the CCDAC Myanmar.
