Public gathering occurred after the 2020 general election and to avoid increasing in numbers of COVID-19 patients, people are requested to stay at home from November 21 to December 5 according to the State Counselor Office statement issued on November 17.
The meeting on national level committee on prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19 was held in Nay Pyi Taw and it was attended by chairperson of the central committee and State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, ministers Min Thu, Thaung Tun, Kyaw Tin, Thein Swe, Dr. Myint Swe, deputy ministers Sett Aung, Kyaw Myo, secretaries of central committee Zaw Thin Than and Dr. Thet Khine Win.
They discussed matters on prevention measures as there were crowds occurring after the 2020 general election and to avoid increasing the numbers of patients, a statement on requesting people to follow the stay at home rules from November 21 to December 5. In that period, entertainment programmes aired more than usual to entertain the public.
Matters also discussed where to permit quick discharge from the hospitals to the patients recovered from the virus, to work not to infect COVID-19 in cold areas, to reduce fear among the people as most of the infected people didn’t go to hospitals and went there as their conditions worsened. They also discussed permitting one family member when a patient is in serious condition and work being carried out in Yangon general hospital. Besides, they also discussed reopening of tea shops and restaurants in no stay at home townships. Moreover, it matters to take serious actions to the leader who organized the protest of those who didn’t get 4th time assistance from the government. They then discussed opening of pagodas in states and region which are not in the stay at home, depending on the spread of COVID-19 in last week of November, permission of worship at churches and mosques and in pagodas to be allowed with under 30 people per time, and to stop the permission if there is spread of COVID-19.
Besides, they discussed worshipping at Christmas for Christians and at the international New Year day with less than 50 people. Choral singing at the houses is prevented but singing at the churches are to be allowed.
