A staff officer from Namtu Township development committee shot dead in Myitkyina around 7:30 pm on August 3 according to sources closed to the decease.
The victim was U Phyo Wai San and he got gun shot wounds at his head and arm at a rail crossing in Aye Mya Tharyar ward, Myitkyina.
“While he was coming driving his Alphard vehicle, he was shot from a motorcycle. I think, it was done with a purpose. He is a good-natured man. Although he lived in Myitkyina, he was assigned in Namtu,” said a man close to the decease.
He served as a personal secretary for a year under Kachin State development affairs minister U Nay Win in NLD administration. Afterwards, he was promoted and transferred to Tanai.
Before he was shot dead, he served as a township staff officer in Namtu. He was 36 years old and left his wife, a son and a daughter.
On May 25, Maung Mong Lwan Naw from Hpakant was also shot dead in Siputar ward, Myitkyina. Similarly, another man was also stabbed to death in Yanpu lane-25, Myitkyina, on May 26.
