Southwest monsoon wind has entered Myanmar, announced the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) on June 11.
The southwest monsoon wind entered southern areas of Myanmar on May 19, delta areas on May 30, middle areas of Myanmar on June 5 and northern areas of Myanmar on June 10.
The DMH forecasted the southwest monsoon wind will enter Myanmar between June 3 and 8 and it is two days later than the forecast as it entered across Myanmar on June 10.
Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Nay Pyi Taw, Magway Region, Kachin and Kayin states, fairly widespread in lower Sagaing and Mandalay regions, Shan, Kayah and Mon States and widespread in the remaining regions and states with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in upper Sagaing and Yangon regions, and Rakhine State.
The recorded rainfalls are 3.85 inches in Hmawby, 3.51 inches in downtown Yangon, 3.30 inches in Kani, 3.15 inches in Marnaung, 2.44 inches in Yangon (Kabaraye), 2.36 inches in Myaungmya, 2.28 inches each in Kawlin (agriculture) and Hlegu, 1.96 inches in Pathein and Labutta, 1.89 inches in Tamu, 1.81 inches in Kayan and 1.77 inches in Pyapon.
The low pressure area over the West Central Bay of Bengal has moved West-Northwestwards and now lies over the West Central Bay and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal, North Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha coasts (India). Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay and moderate to strong elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal, it said.
