Shells hit in villages of Yathedaung Township left one child injured

RAKHINE- Clashes broke out near a new Thamaeehla village in Yathedaung Township, Rakhine State, in the morning of January 26th and shell burst in the village and wounded one child who is now receiving medical treatment at the Sittwe Hospital in Rakhine State.

“We heard explosion from a distance of half mile from a western part of a village. The shells hit in our village and spread on the road. One child and a woman were wounded and a child is now receiving medical treatment at the Sittwe Hospital. All villagers were gathered in the school and houses were searched. Cash and gold products have been lost. We, villagers, didn’t have the breakfast until 6pm. Police force came to the village and they investigated the villagers. Actually, we don’t know about the battles but we hear the gun fires. We would like to say the authorities about the loss of our cash and gold products. If they want to search, they should search only the men,” said U Maung Thein Nu from new Thamaeehla village.

“We found that heavy weapons and shells dropped in the village. Shells hit in every houses. A villager was beaten and one was sewn his head and he is going to the Yathedaung Hospital. There are 84 houses in our village and 64 houses were searched and cash and gold products were taken. At present, the villagers arrive in their houses as well as police force told the villagers that no one goes to the outside of the village. The villagers have worry against the battles. As clashes break out near in our village, all houses in our village were searched and our cash and gold products were grabbed. This act likes as the robbery,” said MP Than Naing from Yathedaung Township who also visited the Thamaeehla village.

Similarly, the battles took place in Paletwa Township in the evening of January 26th.
