Security tightened in Bangkok as ASEAN Summit begins

Thai authorities deployed more than 17,000 security members in Bangkok, Thailand as ASEAN Summit that ASEAN leaders and some world summit ones are going to attend is currently held.

The 35th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits are being held at Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

Thailand is taking in-charge of ASEAN alternate chairmanship and more than 3,000 representatives from the international community are going to assemble in Bangkok, Thailand to attend ASEAN Summit and Related Summits. On October 31, the meetings of some regional ministers started.

Royal Thai police said that checks would be made in some places for security reason. Some roads would be closed for security reason.

“More than 17,000 security members  will take security measures at the buildings and the hotels and in public places. They are from Thai royal police force and army. People should take part in security measures as Thailand hosts ASEAN Summit. People can give information when suspicious situations is known,” the deputy police chief of Royal Thai Police.

Some roads will be closed for security reason, but part-time closure will be made for enabling the travelling people to move with peace of mind, said the deputy police chief of Royal Thai Police.

Recently bomb explosions occurred in Bangkok during the senior official meeting and the media pointed out the authorities should be on full alert.

On August 2 a series of bomb blasts occurred in some busy places, the government office and the police headquarters. Bombs were found in six places and explosions broke out in five places.
