SAC Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing meets Russian President Vladimir Putin at Kremlin Palace

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is on a state-level goodwill visit to Russia, met and held discussions with the President of the Russian Federation, Mr. Vladimir Putin, on the evening of March 4 (local time) at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow.

First, the President of the Russian Federation welcomed and greeted the Chairman of the State Administration Council before holding a separate meeting for discussions.

Attending the meeting along with the Senior General were Joint Secretary of the Council, General Ye Win Oo; Council members, General Nyo Saw; Union Ministers U Than Swe and Admiral Moe Aung; and Myanmar’s Ambassador to Russia, U Thit Linn Ohn. On the Russian side, attendees included the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the President’s Foreign Policy and International Relations Assistant, the Minister of Industry and Trade, other responsible officials, and senior government officials.

During the meeting, President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin expressed his pleasure at meeting for the second time and noted that the Prime Minister’s visit would significantly contribute to strengthening the friendly relations and cooperation between the two nations. He mentioned that agreements on bilateral cooperation would be signed during this visit and that trade between the two countries had improved compared to before. He also emphasized that both countries were working together on the international stage. He reiterated his pleasure in hosting this meeting in Moscow and extended a warm welcome.

In response, the Chairman of the State Administration Council expressed his gratitude for the meeting in Moscow. He recalled their previous meeting at the 7th Eastern Economic Forum and stated that this was their second discussion. He affirmed that Russia is a good and long-standing friend of Myanmar, and despite the geographical distance, their relationship remains strong. He highlighted that both countries had maintained close relations throughout history and that their diplomatic relations had now reached the 77th anniversary. He expressed confidence that this meeting would be beneficial for both nations and reiterated his appreciation for the opportunity to meet.

Following this, discussions were held on enhancing bilateral friendship and cooperation, production and trade matters, economic development, investment opportunities, agriculture and livestock sectors, and various other fields of collaboration.
