SAC Chair and ASEAN Special Representative for Myanmar meet in Nay Pyi Taw

Chairman of the State Administration Council Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and ASEAN Chairman's ASEAN Special Representative for Myanmar Mr. Alounkeo Kittikhoun, met at the diplomatic hall of the office of the Chairman of the State Administration Council in Nay Pyi Taw on January 10 and discussed the situation of Myanmar's adjustment and implementation of the five ASEAN Common Agreements, sources said.

In this meeting, they discussed the conditions of friendship and cooperation between Laos and Myanmar, due to the occurrence of vote fraud in the 2020 multi-party democratic general election, the situation in which the State Administration Council had to carry out the national duties, the use of armed violence without a political solution to political disagreements, the efforts carried out by the government for national peace and reconciliation, and the situation of the Tatmadaw which is taking a strong stand on the path of multi-party democracy that the people want.

In addition, the establishment of the five-point road map by State Administration Council ahead of the country's stability and peace, the establishment of the political aspirations and national aspirations, the cooperation of Myanmar in humanitarian aid issues, the issue of priority implementation activities in 2024 when being served as the chairman of ASEAN, and the adjusted and implemented conditions on the five ASEAN common agreements and the road map established by the SAC were being discussed.

The meeting was attended by the joint secretary of the council, Lt. Gen. Ye Win Oo, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, Lao Ambassador to Myanmar and officials.
