YANGON-----The rumours about the seizure of COVID-19 vaccines by Tatmadaw is false and that relevant states and regions will be carrying out vaccination programs tomorrow, says Dr Khin Khin Gyi, Director of the Contagious Disease Prevention and Eradication Division under the Ministry of Health and Sports.
“We didn’t hear about the military[Tatmadaw] taking away vaccine doses. The officials had informed the relevant states and regions to launch a vaccination program on February 5th. Those vaccines are for the public,” said Dr Khin Khin Gyi.
The heath workers and volunteers are being vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.
Dr Khin Khin Gyi also said that aged over 65 elder persons living in the Stay-at-Home order’s townships must be vaccinated against the COVID-19 vaccine on February 5th.
The Ministry of Health and Sports announced that nearly 100,000 medical staff and volunteers have already been vaccinated as of January 31st.
The ministry had vaccinated priority groups against Covid-19 with the first priority to start inoculating over 110,000 health workers across the country on January 27.
The first priority group also includes volunteers working for Covid-19 prevention and treatment, members of union and regional governments and parliamentary representatives.
The COVID-19 drug COVID Shield purchased from India, and the drugs Pfizer/BioNtech to be got by allotments from COVAX Facility group will be arriving within a hundred days from the state of 202
