A private school teacher was found dead with eight stab wounds in Myeik Township on July 8, with police currently investigating the murder and searching for the perpetrators.
The discovery was made after authorities received a report of a body found in a wooded area near Thae Kwin Pyin in Shwepyitan Ward, Myeik Taung Village-tract. Upon arrival, police and local administrators identified the deceased as Maung Thiha Win, 28, son of U Win Nyunt, a teacher at ILBC private school and a resident of Zeya Thiri (1) Ward, Myat Thaung Quarter, Myeik.
A preliminary examination revealed five stab wounds on the left and right abdomen and three penetrating wounds on the upper back. The victim was found lying face-up at the scene.
Investigations indicate that Maung Thiha Win had left his home alone around 9 p.m. on July 7 and never returned. His father, U Win Nyunt, filed a formal complaint urging authorities to identify and prosecute those responsible for his son's fatal injuries.
The Myeik Township Police Station has registered the case under Penal Code Section 302 (murder) with reference number (Pa) 144/2025 and criminal case number 4/2025. An active manhunt for the suspects is underway.
