Prime Minister chairs coordination meeting on parliamentary sessions, inspects preparations in Nay Pyi Taw

The Central Committee for Convening Parliamentary Sessions held its second coordination meeting on March 5 at the Government Office No. 18 in Nay Pyi Taw, with Chairman of the Committee and Prime Minister U Nyo Saw delivering opening remarks.

The meeting was attended by Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U T Khun Myat, Chairman of the Union Election Commission U Thein Soe, Union ministers, the Auditor General of the Union, the Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, and responsible officials from the respective parliaments. Chief Ministers of regions and states joined the meeting via video conference.

In his remarks, the Prime Minister said the multiparty democracy general election had been successfully held in three phases in a free and fair manner. He added that dates had already been set to convene the first regular sessions of the third term of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, Pyithu Hluttaw, and Amyotha Hluttaw, with elected representatives who will represent the people.

He also noted that official announcements had been issued specifying the dates for parliamentary representatives to report to their respective parliaments, and that they would soon begin arriving in Nay Pyi Taw.

Relevant ministries and departments have been instructed to coordinate transportation arrangements for the representatives upon their arrival and departure. Preparations have also been made to ensure that accommodation facilities are ready, including water, electricity, sanitation, furniture, and other necessary items. With regard to the security of the Hluttaw complex, the Prime Minister stressed that all matters that need to be prioritized for security reasons should be completed. The respective Hluttaw offices and the relevant working committees should cooperate and coordinate in carrying out the necessary tasks in order to ensure the smooth implementation of the work processes to be carried out at the First Regular Session of the Third Hluttaw, he added.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the TV recording systems and related technical equipment to be used during the Hluttaw sessions should be regularly tested and rehearsed to ensure their proper functioning. Renovation and repair work on the Hluttaw buildings should also be completed fully. In addition, regional and state governments need to make preparations and provide the necessary support to ensure the successful convening of the First Regular Sessions of the Region and State Hluttaws.

He pointed out that at the upcoming Third Hluttaw sessions, for media organizations to systematically comply with the prescribed rules and regulations related to news coverage within the Hluttaw, the Ministry of Information should take the lead and cooperate with the Myanmar Press Council and the Foreign Correspondents Club based in Myanmar, adding that it is also necessary to systematically arrange Media Corners.

The meeting focused on the implementation of the minutes of the previous meeting. Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U T Khun Myat reported on arrangements for Hluttaw representatives to attend relevant Hluttaws in time and the systematic work procedures for Hluttaws.

Officials from the relevant work committee and chief ministers of regions and states discussed progress in successfully holding the Hluttaw sessions and further plans. The Prime Minister coordinated the necessary measures for the discussions. After the meeting, the Prime Minister and party inspected preparations to convene sessions at the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, the Pyithu Hluttaw and the Amyotha Hluttaw, and preparations for the e-voting system machines in addition to the Sipin Guesthouse, where the Hluttaw representatives will stay.
