There are more than 42000 COVID-19 suspects in Myanmar and the work for prevention and control of COVID-19 can’t reduce at the moment, it may continue till middle of May according to Minister for Health and Sports Dr. Myint Htwe on April 26.

According to the data collected by the Ministry of Health, there are 7020 places for quarantine, and a total of 42671 people are under quarantine. It shows that we can’t reduce the work relating to COVID-19 and we have at least to work till mid-May. Then only, it is expected that control of spreading the COVID-19 may effectively carried out, he said.

Myanmar where there is a population of 52 million, 146 were tested positive. It is the 2.2 percent of the total tested people. These positive patients were from 45 townships. In Yangon Region, positive cases were found in 28 townships, where 3 townships in Mandalay Region were found positive cases, each township in Bago, Sagaing, Kachin , Chin, Shan State (South), Mon, Nay Pyi Taw and Magaway Region and two townships in Shan State (East),  and North.

If more tests can be carried out, there may be more positive cases of COVID-19.  Then, the spread of the disease can be known and priority measures can be done in townships where most positive cases were found, he continued.
