Police found 2,000 amphetamine tablets on a vehicle owned by Second Lieutenant of Mon peace and defence front, who shot a corporal from traffic police force and a civilian on October 14, according to police.

“When the police interrogated Aye Mon, the female companion of the fugitive Naing Pike Htwe, she confessed that he used and also trafficked narcotics. The police later searched the car and found hidden amphetamine tablets,” said a police officer from Myaing Thayar police station.

The police found the amphetamine tablets secretly stored between engine room and dashboard cover and seized them in front of witnesses, according to the police.

The police lodged a complaint against Naing Pike Htwe and Aye Mon under Section 19 (a)/ 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law at Myaing Thayar police station.

Naing Yaung, leader of Mon peace and defence front, denied that the fugitive was not a member of his force.
