Pneumonia suspect passengers from China needed to inform health departments

YANGON-The Health Department in Yangon International Airport announced that the passengers coming from Wuhan of China will suffer the pneumonia, they must be needed to inform the nearby health departments and airport’s health department.

Authorities are now taking monitoring measures at Yangon International Airport to prevent Wuhan pneumonia-suspected patients from entering Myanmar.

“The health staffs are carrying out Fever Screening tasks at the Arrival and Departure lounges in Yangon International Airport. Moreover, signboards warning against Wuhan Pneumonia are set up and preventative measures against the Pneumonia are also being carried out at the airport. China Eastern Airlines operates a flight between Wuhan and Yangon once a week as usual,” said official from Yangon International Airport.

Meanwhile, authorities are speeding up monitoring measures at Tada-U International Airport in Mandalay Region, for prevention of influenza-like illness-ILI and severe acute respiratory infection-SARI. The Public Health Department has announced its precautionary measures to prevent those illnesses.

Yangon has connected flights with 13 Chinese airlines. The flights operate between Yangon International Airport and 18 cities in China. China is asking for the operation of more flights, according to the Civil Aviation Department.

In the period between January and October last year, Hainan Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Spring Airlines, Kunming Airlines, Ruili Airlines, and Qingdao Airlines launched flights between Chinese cities and Yangon Airport.
