It has been reported that in Nyaung-U Township, Mandalay Region, PDF members abducted a member of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) and shot dead a village administrator on October 16.

According to reports, 69-year-old U Myint Kyaw, a USDP member from Yamsan Village in Nyaung-U Township, was at his home on the afternoon of October 16 when about ten PDF members arrived and took him away.

Similarly, around the same time on October 16, in Hteepu Village of Nyaung-U Township, about five PDF members arrived on two motorcycles and shot dead the village tract administrator, U Lwin Ko, at his home after accusing him of being an informant. He reportedly died from gunshot wounds.

Security forces are reportedly continuing necessary operations in accordance with security procedures to rescue the abducted political party member and to apprehend those responsible for the killing of the village administrator.
