The passport office in Yangon announced on August 28 that the cost of applying for a passport has been increased from 40,000 to 45,000 kyats, starting from September 1.
Myanmar passport applications are made through online appointments, while the previous fee for new applications and renewals was 40,000 kyats, which had to be paid in advance through online payment of your choice, depending on the type of applicant.
Regarding the increase in the fee, "We would like to inform you that the fee for applying for a regular Myanmar passport domestically will be increased from 40,000 to 45,000 kyats from September 1, 2025," the passport office announced.
For lost and damaged passports (lost domestically, expired, wet, stained, torn, scratched), a fee of 96,000 kyats will be charged, and for lost passports abroad, a fee of 140 US dollars will be charged.
Online payments for Myanmar passport applications are currently being made through the KBZ Pay, MPU Card system, and AYA Pay, and starting from May 2, 2025, payments can also be made through the MMQR system, which is Myanmar's digital payment National QR Standard.
