For the academic year 2023-2024, there had been more than 5.82 million students admitted to basic education schools in various regions and states of Myanmar between May 23 and 29, the Ministry of Information reported.

For the 2023-2024 AY, all high schools, middle schools and primary school under the Basic Education Department will open on June 1. The period from May 23 to 31 has been designated as School Enrolment Week.

Between May 23 and 29, a total of 5,822,062 students were admitted to state-run basic education schools, private schools and monastic education schools in the regions and states across the country.

The Ministry of Education has stated that 5-year-old children should be admitted to KG and 6-year-old children should be admitted to Grade-1.

In the previous academic year of 2022-2023, a school enrolment week was held from May 26 to June 1. A total of the 5,609,676 students were admitted to state-run basic education schools, private schools and monastic education schools in the regions and states across the country.
