More than 400 Hindus fleeing to Bangladesh are reportedly willing to return, but authorities have yet to make lists of them, said Hindu leader Ani Maw from Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State.

"The number of displaced Hindus in Bangladesh is over 440. But it is said that any list has not been made. Despite the fact that they have no problem with their living conditions there, they say they want to come back to their native place," he said.

The two countries have negotiated to repatriate those Hindus. However, Hindu people are not on the lists of returnees Bangladesh has sent to Myanmar.

ARSA Bengali terrorists carried out attacks on three police outposts along Maungdaw border on August 25, 2017. In the attacks hundreds of Hindus were killed and arrested.

At the second anniversary of ARSA killings of Hindus on September 18, Ragu Nay Myint from a Hindu aid group for Rakhine State in Yangon said over 400 Hindu refugees in Bangladesh are demanding to return home as they are under threat there.

According to a statement released by the ministry of foreign affairs, there are 22,432 displaced people on the list of those to be repatriated Bangladesh has sent to Myanmar. Of them, 20,410 have been scrutinized.

On August 22 when a bilateral agreement on repatriation was signed, a delegation of ASEAN-ERAT together with high-ranking Myanmar officials visited the reception camp in Rakhine State. They were waiting there to see the acceptance of some returnees. However, no one returned on that day.

However, 230 displaced people from Cox's Bazar returned to Rakhine State under their own arrangements.
