Over 31,350 tons of rice exported abroad through maritime trade in August

The Ministry of Commerce has reported that during August 2023, more than 31,350 tons of rice were exported abroad through maritime trade, with a peak of more than 12,620 tons of rice to EU member states.

From August 1 to 31, 31,350 tons of rice worth US$16.056 million were exported through maritime trade. More than 12,620 tons of rice went to EU countries and over 18,720 tons of rice to Asian countries.

Among Myanmar's rice exports, For Asia, 16,070 tons rice went to the Philippines, 1,130 tons to Malaysia, 1,040 tons of rice to East Timor, more than 310 tons to Hong Kong, and 174 tons to Singapore. For EU countries, 2,750 tons of rice went to Spain, 1,925 tons to Poland, 1,525 tons to Belgium, 1,000 tons to Italy, 825 tons to Greece, 650 tons to the United Kingdom, and 606 tons to Czechoslovakia, 600 tons to Portugal, 500 tons to Turkiye, 390 tons to Bulgaria, 377 tons to Croatia, 325 tons to France, and 324 tons to Germany, 250 tons to the Netherlands, 208 tons to Romania, 125 tons to Slovakia, 175 tons to Estonia, and more than 70 tons to Lebanon.

During that period, Myanmar exported more than 820 tons of rice worth $0.370 million to China via border trade. Myanmar earned $16.426 million from exporting to China via two modes of transport.

Between August 1 and 31, more than 25,460 tons of broken rice worth $11.114 million were also exported through maritime trade.

In August, 3,929 tons of broken rice worth $1.540 million were exported to China via border trade. Myanmar earned $12.654 million from exporting broken rice to China via two modes of transport. 

During August, the export value totalled $29.080 million in exporting over 61,560 tons of rice and broken rice.
