According to Lashio's committee for prevention, control and treatment of Covid-19, there are now over 300 Covid-19 positive patients and an indoor stadium is being transformed to house the patients.
As of June 26, there were 7 deads out of over 300 cases, a growing number that the Lashio General Hospital is struggling to keep up with.
"We are planning to keep 100 each of both male and female patients. There will also be offices for those in charge for the township level committee. Bathrooms are being refurbished to be used by the patients," said a member of the Lashio Covid-19 committee.
The stadium-turned-covid center will be reportedly ready by today (June 27) with donors providing blankets, pillows and other items for use by the patients.
Wifi internet will also be available to be used by both patients and healthcare staff.
Since the surge in Covid-19 cases, the Lashio Myoma Market and other markets have been temporarily shut down with restaurants, eateries and stall to only sell food to go.
On June 26, the health ministry also issued the stay-at-home order for Lashio.
