Over 1.1m people check voter lists announced for second time in Mandalay

MANDALAY------More than 1.1 million people have checked the voter lists announced for the second time in Mandalay Region and over 170,000 applied for amendment, complaint and supplement, said Shein Win, chairman of Mandalay Region Election Sub-commission.

From October 1 to October 14, 1,126,710 came to check the voter lists in the region. Of them, 114.790 applied with Form 3 as they were not on list, 18,905 with complaint Form 4 as ineligible voters are included and 46,133 with Form 4 (c) as their personal details are not complete.

“This second-time voter list announcement has now been confirmed. The lists will be sent to the wards and villages for use on the election day. Training for polling booth officers will be from October 19 to November 4. In each training, there will be 30 trainees. We will do it in accord with the Covid-19 guidelines,” Shein Win said.

According to the Mandalay Region Election Sub-commission, there are over 750,000 people in the stay-at-home townships who will be casting advance votes as they are 60 and above.

The number of eligible voters in Mandalay Region increased by more than 100,000 in the second-time voter list announcement after the first-time announcement from July 25 to August 14.

The region has over 4.6 million voters and 5,448 polling stations.
