Till October, there are more than 2,600 private fuel filling stations nationwide where 1,726 stations are located in Mandalay, Bago, Sagaing, Ayeyawady, Yangon and Magway, according to the Ministry of Electricity and Energy.

Till October,  2019, the ministry granted licenses to 253 private fuel filling stations nationwide.

Till October, there are 2,642 private fuel filling stations—94 in Union Territorial Area,  186 in Yangon, 647 in Mandalay, 214 in Ayeyawady, 261 in Bago, 187 in Magway, 231 in Sagaing, 29 in Taninthayi, 117 in Kachin, 18 in Kayah, 52 in Kayin, five in Chin, 137 in Mon, 38 in Rakhine, 57 in Shan (east), 194 in Shan (north) and 175 in Shan (south).

Till December 27, 2018, the number of private fuel filling stations reached 2,389.

On September 27, Myanmar Fuel Oil Importers and Distributors Association issued a statement, warning that the fine will be increased from Ks 500,000 to Ks one million for undisciplined fuel filling stations.

Till August 30 of 2018-2019 FY, Myanmar imported over 4.957 tons of fuel worth 2.942 billion US dollars. In the same period last year, Myanmar imported over 5.444 million tons of fuel worth 3.326 billion US dollars. In 11 months of this FY, fuel imports declined by 486, 150 tons worth 384.389 million US dollars.

In 11 months of this FY, diesel imports reached over three million tons worth 1.797 billion US dollars, down over 650,000 tons and nearly 380 million US dollars, compared with the same period last FY.

Gasoline imports reached 1,877 million tons worth over 1.144 billion US dollars, up over 160,000 tons and nearly 380 million US dollars, according to the Commerce Ministry.
