Supporters of both the National League for Democracy and Union Solidarity and Development Party competitively rallied for election campaigning in Thakayta and Dawbon townships of Yangon Region on November 5.

Around NLD supporters on vehicles, trishaws and motorbikes went round in Thakayta Township. Likewise, about 100 USDP supporters on vehicles, trishaws and motorbikes went round in Dawbon Township.

The supporters of both parties played their respective election campaigning songs.

The Ministry of Health and Sports issued a warning on October 29 that if there is any gathering of more than 50 people in election campaigns and rallies in the streets, action will be taken against them in accord with the existing law.

On October 29 also, the Union Election Commission issued an instruction. It says the political parties are to follow the orders and instructions issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports in their election campaigns and rallies. They also need to have a permit granted by the Union Election Commission. In such election campaigns and rallies, they must not have a gathering of more than 50 participants.

As the election nears, more supporters of NLD and USDP alike are competitively rallying.
