A burglar broke into the middle school near the compound of Namtu sugar mill in Moegaung Township, Kachin State, killing a nephew of the headmistress on September 17, according to local sources.   

In connection to the case that happened around 5am, the headmistress living in a school dormitory checked the door of the office room next to hers as it was open, and found a burglar who then pushed her down. Then, the headmistress’ nephew arrived at the scene and was suddenly stabbed in his ribs by the burglar from behind the door, the sources said.

“The headmistress said her prayers at about 4.30 am and changed the flower vases. The incident happened when she went to the office next to her dormitory as the door was open. Her nephew was rushed to hospital in Namti. But he was transferred to Myitkyina Hospital because his blood pressure was very low. He died about two hours later. The body was left at that hospital. But it will be carried back to Namti tomorrow for cremation,” said a helper.

The headmistress and her nephew, aged 32, moved to the school just about half a month ago. Their native place is in Shweku Township, Kachin State.

Locals living nearby areas said the school had been broken in several times before.
