Myanmar had vaccinated over 37.65 million of people at the age of 18 and above and under 18 against Covid-19 until January 7 this year, according to the Ministry of Health.
Across the country, Covid-19 vaccinations are being administered in order of priority. Till January 7, 30,856,554 (30.85 million) people aged 18 and above and 6,801,033 (6.80 million) children under 18 had been vaccinated, the ministry announced.
As Covid vaccination can reduce outbreak, disease severity and death, the Ministry of Health has urged the public to receive full doses. Those aged over 18 have also been urged to receive a further booster when their latest booster doses have lasted for a six-month period.
Moreover, Covid-19 vaccinations are being administered free of charge to all the people aged 15 and above and students aged between 5 and 18. For those aged 18 and above, they are receiving boosters six months after the latest vaccinations.
The ministry has also urged those with underlying health conditions to be fully vaccinated. Some people suffering from chronic illnesses such as diabetics, hypertension, heart, kidney and liver diseases or cancers fear being vaccinated. And some have misled by wrong information, the ministry pointed out.
