Nearly 200 swabs for COVID-19 in Shan State sent for testing

Swabs collected from 191 persons from 13 townships of southern Shan State, namely, Kalaw, Sisaing, Ngyaung Shwe, Taunggyi, Nahm San, Pintaya, Hpekhon, Yatsauk, Ywangan, Linkhae, Loikaw, Pinlaung, and Hophon, were sent to PHL-Taunggyi at the Sao San Htun hospital on 24 Sept for tests.

     

Dr Zawana, Deputy Director from the southern Shan State Disease Control department of Public Health Department said that swabs of 13 Contact persons, 155 from quarantine centres, 5 PUI's, totaling 191 from 13 townships have been delivered to be tested.

     

The four confirmed patients in Taunggyi Sao San Htun hospital in Taunggyi are kept in a special room in a special ward and given treatment.

     

There are quarantine centres opened at the Moeghok Wipathana meditation center, Dhamna Ooyin, Tau gyi college, Computer college, and State High Schools 1,2,5, and 8. At these quarantine centres there are over 100 people who have come back from abroad. In addition health inspection centres have been reopened at the Taung Laylon Gate and Hophon exit Koemaing Gate. Those coming back from Stay at Home regions will have to stay in quarantine in Taunggyi for a fortnight.

     

As regards the COVID-19 pandemic, of all the patients taking treatment in the entire Shan State  till 10th. Sept. there have been 589 patients, 6 persons infected with virus, 18 casualties, 432 persons discharged, and 132 patients still taking treatment.

     

The number of persons in the entire state in Community-Based Facility Quarantine, Home Quarantines, returnees from abroad, and those under observation are as follows effective 10 September: 363 in CBFQ, 58733 returnees from abroad, 2753 in HQ, as learnt from the Shan State government.
