The Taiwan Question is China’s internal affair and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China, the information team of the National Defence and Security Council (NDSC) said on December 31.
The information team of the National Defence and Security Council released the following statement on Myanmar’s position on the current tense Taiwan Question.
Myanmar has recognized China’s independence from the very beginning since the founding of China, and has consistently supported the One China Policy, which has been reaffirmed during the two countries’ leaders’ meetings. It also supports China’s goal of peaceful reunification with Taiwan, it said.
Myanmar and China are countries that have agreed to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and respect each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. Myanmar also emphasized the efforts for this, it said.
In accordance with the policy of respecting the internal affairs of one country, the Taiwan Question is China's internal affair and Taiwan is an indivisible part of China, it said.
The statement said that the separatist movements are detrimental to regional security, and that it does not recognize such movements and that any encouragement that may lead to conflicts should be restrained.
Myanmar will always stand as a good neighbour and friend of China, a country with which it has strategic partnership, and a country with which it has built a community of shared interests, it said.
