The celebration to mark the Myanmar Navy 72nd anniversary and the commissioning ceremony of new eight navy vessels will be held today at the No.3 Jetty in Thilawa.

The submarine will not be included in the commissioning ceremony and will be commissioned later separately, said Brig-Gen Zaw Min Tun, Secretary of Tatmadaw True News Information Team.

The video footage of a submarine, which is taking a trial test, was posted by Facebook accounts in recent days and people assumed that it will be included in the commissioning ceremony.

The submarine will not be included in the commissioning ceremony held in Myanmar Navy Day and he cannot say the time exactly, confirmed Brig-Gen Zaw Min Tun.

The eight new navy vessels including a multipurpose support vessel “Mottama”, which is built in South Korea, will be commissioned today, he said.

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services, will attend the commissioning ceremony, he said.

The other seven new navy vessels built in Myanmar are a coastal transport vessel “Myitkyina”, two 27-meter long patrol boats, two 26-meter long offshore tug boats, and two 20-meter long inshore patrol boats.
