National literature award winner writer Tekkatho Kyae Pwint died suddenly

Writer Tekkatho Kyae Pwint, who won the Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award and the National Literature Award, died suddenly on October 30. He was 78 years old at the time of his death.

He was born in 1944 in Loikaw, Kayah State, to father U Thein Pe and mother Daw Shwe. In 1961, he passed his first year in physics (with honors) from Yangon University, went to study in Germany, and obtained a master's degree in physics from Leipzig University. Then he returned to work at Yangon University.

He was also involved in social work as Chairman of Kayah Ethnic Literature and Culture Committee (Yangon University), Joint Secretary General of the Central Committee of Ethnic Literature and Culture (Yangon Universities) and a member of Yangon University's Literary and Art Review Committee.

He has written scientific and educational articles in other publications and magazines while acting as editor-in-chief of the Yangon University of Arts and Sciences Physics Journal, and won the Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award. He won the National Literature Award for his book 'Super String Theory' published in 2001.

He wrote and published books such as ‘Relay TV Theory’ ‘Quantum Theory’, ‘Super String Theory’ and ‘M Theory and Cosmology’.

The author and his wife were found dead with injuries in their apartment on Mandalay Road, Mingalar Taungnyunt Township on the night of October 30. The police are investigating about the cause of the death.
