More and more patients with no travel record are being found, so that the District Medical Officer has warned that contagion is begining, and urged the public to abide by the disciplinary measures laid down by the health department.
After noticing that market vendors without any travel record were getting infected with coronavirus, and the people who are in contact with them are getting affected as well everyday. Those that had been in contact with them are placed in quarantine. Patients had been found infected without any record of travel. In addition those without any contact with infected patients were also infected by the virus. This could be considered as local transmission and so the public should follow the guidelines laid down by the ministry if healthy without fail.
Dr. Hnit San Oo, Chief Medical Officer of Myaungmya District said, "I have observed for the past four days. First it was the vendor who sells rice noodles in tge market. The next is the vendor who sells steamed peacake. Another person is from the village, but today that person is quite a famous person in town. That is how the disease is spreading. They have not traveled anywhere. They have not been in close contact with any infected persons. So the cases that had been observed during the past four days is that there has been local transmission only. And so Myaungmya is in a very dangerous stage. It can be stated that covid is within reach. Right now we are treating 11 patients. Six persons without any symptoms of disease are in Hninnsi ward in Nurses's Training School. The remaining five with some symptoms of disease are in Isolation Ward in Myaungmya hospital. Some from these five have some underlying disease and so they have somebody to take care of them . There are two such cases. Although there are five patients we have to provide three meals a day for 12 or 13 patients since September. It has been three months now. These meals are provided with the aid of donors. The government too provides, but not to everyone. That is why we have to depend on donors. As for those in Hninnsi ward in nurse's school the township covid committee has taken the responsibility. The hospital has taken the responsibility to provide medicines and other medical supplies. As local contagion has begun we urge the public to wear masks and to follow the instructions of the health department without fail".
In Ayeyarwaddy Region, apart from Ngaputaw township, all other townships have patients affected by COVID-19, and according to the statement issued on 22 November morning, there are 2271 confirmed affected patients and with seven deaths. 1605 had recovered and had been discharged from hospital.
