In a historic victory for Myanmar's esports scene, the Yangon Galacticos (YG) team has won the prestigious PUBG Mobile World Championship (PMWC) 2025 held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The team outperformed 24 elite squads from across the globe to claim the world champion title and a grand prize of $540,000.
The intense three-day Grand Finals, running from August 1 to 3, saw YG dominate the competition with an impressive 157-point tally. Chinese representatives Weibo Gaming Esports secured second place with $323,500 in prize money, while Mongolia's Alpha Gaming took third with $222,000.
The winning Yangon Galacticos squad consisted of four talented players: Marnett (Soung Wai Phyo), Romeo (Khant Zaw Hein), SAYCLOUD (Kaung Khant Aung), and Smile (Swan Wint Maung). In an emotional statement, the team shared: "Competing over 4,000 miles from home in Riyadh, we're proud to bring Myanmar its first PUBG world championship. This victory marks our country's debut on the global esports stage, and we're deeply grateful to our fans for their unwavering support throughout this journey."
