The number of COVID-19 cases in Myanmar has dropped by less than 10 per cent, according to announcements from the Ministry of Health.

On August 30, 42,497 laboratory samples had been tested and 3,583 people had been infected with the virus, with a detection rate of 8.43 per cent. A total of 5,622 people were died within 30 days: 397 on August 1, 330 on August 2, 312 on August 3, 322 on August 4, 293 on August 5, 274 on August 6, 264 on August 7, 250 on August 8, 238 on August 9, 220 on August 10, 218 on August 11, 215 on August 12, 212 on August 13, 199 on August 14, 185 on August 15, 182 on August 16, 178 on August 17, 163 on August 18, 159 on August 19, 151 on August 20, 140 on August 21, 138 on August 22, 125 on August 23, 123 on August 24, 115 on August 25, 113 on August 26, 118 on August 27, 109 on August 28, 106 on August 29 and 104 on August 30.

According to laboratory tests, the infection rates were 34.73 per cent on August 1, 29.76 per cent on August 2, 33.06 per cent on August 3, 30.06 per cent on August 4, 28.93 per cent on August 5, 30.06 per cent on August 6, 29.18 per cent on August 7, 32.67 per cent on August 8, 29.62 per cent on August 9, 30.67 per cent on August 10, 27.16 per cent on August 11, 26.74 per cent on August 12, 26.54 per cent on August 13, 26.23 per cent on August 14, 26.46 per cent on August 15, 24.06 per cent on August 16, 24.63 per cent on August 17, 24.09 per cent on August 18, 22.43 per cent on August 19, 26.76 per cent on August 20, 25.28 per cent on August 21, 24.17 per cent on August 22, 21.46 per cent on August 23, 21 per cent on August 24, 21.08 per cent on August 25, 21.5 per cent on August 26, 19.76 per cent on August 27, 16.12 per cent on August 28, 10.87 per cent on August 29 and 8.43 per cent on August 30 respectively.

The number of cases of COVID-19 has risen again in Myanmar since May 27, with more than 100 to 1,500 cases reported in June. In July, the death toll rose to more than 20 per cent, from 13 to nearly 400, bringing the total to more than 6,000.

The infection rate was 21.89 per cent on July 1, which had the highest, with 20.4 per cent on July 2, 20.7 per cent on July 3, 22.34 per cent on July 4, 26.93 per cent on July 5, 28.07 per cent on July 6, 26.89 per cent on July 7, 27.68 per cent on July 8, 27.43 per cent on July 9, 28.93 per cent on July 10, 34.21 per cent on July 11, 34.74 per cent on July 12, 34.63 per cent on July 13, 33.17 per cent on July 14, 37.92 per cent on July 15, 34.16 per cent on July 16, 39.12 per cent on July 17, 36.47 per cent on July 18, 37.29 per cent on July 19, 36.82 per cent on July 20, 36.73 per cent on July 21, 38.84 per cent on July 22, 40.82 per cent on July 23, 36.83 per cent on July 24, 40.07 per cent on July 25, 38.47 per cent on July 26, 36.35 per cent on July 27, 36.18 per cent on July 28, 34.75 per cent on July 29, 36.27 per cent on July 30 and 34.24 per cent on July 31.

In July, more than 2,000 to 6,000 people were found infected with the virus, and the number of confirmed cases increased daily.
