The Department of Labor has announced that Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand will only need to pay 2,670 baht to apply for a Certificate of Identity (CI).
Payments can be made at nearby 7-Eleven stores, after which workers can visit any CI application center with the receipt to complete the process.
Since August 6, the labor ministries of Myanmar and Thailand have been cooperating to provide CI application services at centers in Samut Sakhon, Samut Prakan, Surat Thani, and Chiang Mai.
The CI card replacement program covers workers whose cards have less than six months of validity, as well as those with expired cards. In line with Thailand’s TR-38 process, new CI books are being issued. In addition, passports (Passport for Thailand Only) are available to applicants with valid national IDs, household registrations, and CI books after verification, while Overseas Worker Identification Cards (OWIC) are also being issued.
The CI centers will remain closed on Mondays and on holidays designated by the Myanmar Embassy in Bangkok.
