Myanmar showcased traditional cotton clothing, consumer goods and traditional handicrafts at the fifth STYLE Bangkok Fair, sources say.

STYLE Bangkok October 2019 will be held for five days from October 17 to 21. The event opened by Deputy Minister for Commerce of Thailand Sansern Samalapa at Bangkok International Trade & Convention Centre in Bangkok, Thailand, on October 18.

"Despite global economic challenges, the Thai government has its confidence over the competition and private sector resilience against such economic challenges. It is creating national economic infrastructures as well as helping the regional community. The ministry has recognized that Style Bangkok Fair will create links between regional manufacturers and international buyers. This is why Thailand will be a leader in the Asean community. More importantly, 90 percent of Thai businesses are SMEs. We have the chance to showcase their products to the international community. This event will greatly benefit the consumer goods sector. I fully believe that the visitors here will be satisfied," said the Thai deputy minister.

A total of 986 companies displayed 1,841 booths at Style Bangkok October 2019—1,653 booths by 859 local companies and  188 booths by 127 foreign companies. Companies from Vietnam, Myanmar, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Malaysia, South Korea, Cambodia and Laos participated in the trade exhibition.

During the five-day Style Bangkok October 2019, orders worth two billion Thai Baht are expected to be placed. Myanmar companies displayed traditional handicrafts at around 10 booths at the Style Bangkok October 2019.

Khin Zaw, Assistant Director of MYANTRADE of the Ministry of Commerce said: “We are invited by Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP).  The booths are opened via Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization (MYANTRADE). The DITP allotted ten booths to us for Style Bangkok every year. The DITP invited promising companies and local businesspersons who want to make market expansion through us. We mainly display handicrafts and cotton wears here.”
