MUSE-----2132 Myanmar migrant workers working at the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone in Laos reentered Tarchileik Township and 196 of them have been tested positive for Covid-19.

As Myanmar migrant workers had face employment difficulties during Covid-19 outbreak, they returned from Laos via Tarchileik Township from July 30th to August 24th.

Myanmar authorities accepted their entry back in accordance with Covid-19 guidelines.

Later, Tarchileik Township Covid-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment Committee carried out medical checkups to totaling 2132 of Myanmar migrant workers since the beginning of August 1st. Among them, 196 migrant workers had been tested for Covid-19 virus.

So, those infected patients were sent to the Wunlon Quarantine Center in Tarchileik Township. The Myanmar authorities are now sending the remaining migrant workers to their natives.

There are still thousands of Myanmar migrant workers in Laos wishing to return home. That’s why both countries will be carrying out reacceptance program for Myanmar migrant workers, says Tarchileik Township General Administrative Department.
