Myanmar President's wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, who is accompanying President U Min Aung Hlaing on his state-level goodwill visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, visited Van Phuc Silk Village on the morning of September 5.

Upon arrival at Van Phuc Silk Village, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla was warmly welcomed by Madam Ngô Phương Ly, wife of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and officials from the silk village.

Daw Kyu Kyu Hla then toured Van Phuc Silk Village, where Madam Ngô Phương Ly and village officials explained the traditional Vietnamese silk-weaving processes.

The two First Ladies also viewed various silk products displayed at the village.

Van Phuc Silk Village is one of Vietnam’s most renowned traditional silk-weaving villages, with a silk-weaving heritage spanning more than 1,000 years. It is recognized as an important cultural heritage site representing Vietnam’s traditional weaving industry.

Visitors to the village can learn about the entire silk-production process, from silkworm breeding, silk-thread production and preparation to traditional loom weaving, dyeing and the production of finished silk products. They can also learn how traditional weaving skills have been passed down through generations and preserved, as well as how the craft has been integrated with tourism development. The village is also regarded as a major cultural heritage destination for learning about the history of Vietnam’s silk industry and the preservation of traditional craftsmanship.

Madam Ngô Phương Ly subsequently hosted Daw Kyu Kyu Hla to traditional Vietnamese green tea.

Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and Van Phuc Silk Village officials then exchanged gifts.

Following her visit, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla was seen off by Madam Ngô Phương Ly and officials from Van Phuc Silk Village.
