MYAWADY-Over 104 Myanmar migrant students from Mae Sot, Thai-Myanmar border, will be taking part in the matriculation exam in Myawady Township, Kayin State.

The parents of the students are now working at farming industries and factories situated in Mae Sot Township, Terk Province, Thailand. However, their children are studying at the Myanmar migrant schools.

Some students are now taking the jobs.

Only 16 out of 120 migrant students passed their matriculation exam at the Myawady Township in the 2019-2020 academic year.

The social organizations will support the accommodations including healthcare services to the migrant students at Maha Si Meditation Center, No.4 Basic Middle School and Kyauklonegyi Monastery. Moreover, the organizations will be offering the ferry service for the students.

Although there are about 50,000 school-aged children in Mae Sot Township, Thailand, only 9,000 students are now studying at the migrant schools.

The volunteers are now teaching the subjects to them in accordance with the Myanmar syllabus.

Since the beginning of 2012, Myanmar migrant students are allowed to sit the matriculation exam after linking with Thai-Myanmar education centers.
