YANGON----- As the number of quarantined people surged in Ayeyawady, Bago, Mandalay and Magway Regions, over 61,000 peoples are under over 6,100 quarantine centers across the nation, according to the Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS).
The MOHS issued the announcement on November 19th saying that the MOHS was increasing surveillance and control measures against a possibility of a higher number of positive cases due to the public gatherings before and after Nov.8 General Election.
Myanmar had reported 85,205 COVID-19 confirmed cases so far. Among them, 1,846 died and 64,645 were recovered.
The winter season has set in Myanmar and this climate is favorable to the spread of coronavirus as well as the disease could rapidly spread if the people make tours in the upcoming open season and long holiday period.
People are advised not to make unnecessary tours and public gatherings, while following the MOHS’s guidelines and staying at home to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The State Counsellor delivered a speech to the public after the general election. She said that the spread of COVID-19 cases can increase within two weeks after the general election due to the public gatherings. The MOHS already issued the health directives. If the entire people wouldn’t follow the MOHS’s guidelines, there would be actions against them[public].
