The National Defence and Security Council (NDSC) formed the State Security and Peace Commission on July 31, according to sources.
The commission will be chaired by Acting President and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Vice Chairman, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services Vice-Senior General Soe Win, and Secretary General Ye Win Oo.
In addition, the members of the State Security and Peace Commission are the Prime Minister and Union Minister for National Planning U Nyo Saw, Chief Executive of the Office of the State Defence and Security Council U Aung Lin Dway, Union Minister for Defence General Maung Maung Aye, Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt. Gen. Tun Tun Naung, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt. Gen. Yar Pyae, and the Chief of the Geneal Staff (Army, Navy, Air) General Kyaw Swar Lin.
The National Defence and Security Council meeting held on January 31, 2025, granted a six-month extension to the State Administration Council to continue carrying out its national responsibilities. After the term expired on July 31, the National Defence and Security Council did not extend the term of the State Administration Council again and instead formed and assigned the responsibilities to the State Security and Peace Commission.
