Myanmar extends virus preventive measures until 30 June

In a bid to carry out the continued containment of COVID-19, the Central Committee for Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19 yesterday further extended the request to the public, orders, notifications and directives (excluding some relaxations lifted) issued by Union Level bodies and the ministries until 30 June.

U Naing Ngan Lin, Yangon Region Minister for Social Affairs said: “The preventive measures are extended until 30 June. Mass gatherings and religious ceremonies are banned. A separate meeting will be called for nighttime curfew.”

According to a statement by the Ministry of Health and Sports, there have been 261 confirmed cases and six deaths till 13 June. So far, 158 out of 165 recovered patients have been discharged from the respective hospitals. There are new patients under investigation.
