Myanmar evacuates its citizens in Malaysia including those in detention centers

A total of 4,891 Myanmar citizens in Malaysia are evacuated using 29 relief flights and 1,472 of them are from detention centers in Malaysia, sources said.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) is cooperated with the respective ministries and Myanmar embassy in Kuala Lumpur to evacuate Myanmar citizens facing difficulties in Malaysia in line with the instruction of National Level Central Committee for Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19.

A total of 684 Myanmar citizens kept in detention centers in Malaysia are arrived in Yangon International Airport with three chartered planes from Malaysia Airlines under the arrangement of Malaysia government on November 5 and they are handed to the authorities.

Myanmar embassy in Kuala Lumpur issued certificate of identity for those in detention centers to be deported.

Myanmar embassy received the list of over 10,000 Myanmar workers illegally living in Malaysia and they will be evacuated using relief flights if Malaysian government approves it, announced the MOFA.
