Myanmar embassy negotiates with Chinese authorities for return of 600 citizens

YANGON-Myanmar Embassy in Beijing is now in negotiations with Chinese authorities to allow nearly 600 Myanmar citizens in China to return home, according to the embassy.

A total of 910 Myanmar citizens working in China had contacted the embassy to assist them with returning home as COVID-19 is still running amok in China. The embassy contacted Foreign Ministry of China, Department of Consular Affairs, respective regional authorities and police stations to inform them about the matter.

Moreover, 597 Myanmar citizens sent their documents including National Registration Numbers to the embassy. The embassy is now carrying out procedures for their return.

Provinces in China are large and the Myanmar embassy urged its citizens in China to provide their addresses and phone numbers in detail.

Foreigners from many countries are working in China and Myanmar embassy notified its citizens to send the copies of NRCs and household lists via Viber or Wechat to prevent non-citizens from entering Myanmar.

The embassy had asked for the profile of Myanmar citizens in order to hand the documents over to the Chinese authorities.

Myanmar citizens in Yunnan Province, Sichuan Province, Guizhou Province and Chongqing can contact Myanmar Consular General Office in Kunming and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Hunan Province and Guangdong Province can contact to Myanmar Consular General Office in Nanning, according to embassy.

Myanmar citizens in Hubei Province and Wuhan can contact the Myanmar embassy in Beijing if they have problems obtaining rations.
