Myanmar detainees from Malaysia came back home

Myanmar nationals detained at the detention centers in Malaysia arrived back to Myanmar on May 11 according to the statement issued by Yangon Region Government. 

A total of 391 Myanmar nationals detained for various sentences in Malaysia arrived back to Myanmar by a special flight under the arrangement of the Malaysia Government on 10: 25 am and 3: 15 pm respectively on May 11. 

The detainees were welcomed back by Yangon Region Minister for Immigration and Human Resources Moe Moe Su Kyi, and officials. The officials carried out health checks, immigration issues, returning to their (detainees’) native places on their arrival.

 Respective Region and Government will implement 21 days community based quarantine in accordance with the statement issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports. In the first flight, there were 137 detainees and in the second flight, there were 254 detainees, altogether 391 detainees returned from Malaysia. 

 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated with the Malaysia government, Myanmar embassy in Malaysia under the guidelines of the National Level Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19, in retrieving the Myanmar detainees.
