It has been learned that 46 Vietnamese nationals involved in telecom fraud and other criminal activities were handed over once again to the relevant country.

These individuals had illegally entered Myanmar via border routes, transiting through neighboring countries including Thailand, and had engaged in online gambling, online scams, and other crimes in areas such as Myawady–Shwe Kokko, Mae Thaw Talay (KK Park), and Kawkareik in Kayin State. On July 15, authorities transferred them through the No. (2) Myanmar–Thailand Friendship Bridge, taking into consideration humanitarian concerns and friendly bilateral relations, and in accordance with legal procedures.

To ensure systematic and smooth deportation processes, U Myint Phone, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Immigration and Population in Kayin State, and other officials met with departmental coordination teams to check the ongoing deportation work, verify the completeness and accuracy of lists and data, and address any additional requirements.

Following this, the deportation handover ceremony continued. It was attended by U Myint Phone and other officials from the Ministry of Immigration and Population (Kayin State), First Secretary Mr. Hoang Minh Hai and officials from the Embassy of Vietnam in Thailand, and officials from the Tak Provincial Immigration Office of Thailand. Myanmar officials formally handed over the necessary documents to the relevant foreign officials.

Between January 30 and July 15, 2025, Myanmar authorities detected, arrested, and detained a total of 9,224 foreign nationals who had illegally entered the country. Of these, 9,055 were deported via Thailand to their respective countries in accordance with legal procedures, while the remaining 169 are now ready to be deported and are being properly housed and cared for.

The government is continuing efforts to identify and arrest foreign nationals involved in running online scam centers and those orchestrating them from behind the scenes, as well as coordinating with relevant countries to quickly repatriate foreign nationals who have become victims of trafficking or who have found themselves in distress for various reasons.
