Myanmar is continued to export carp fish from Maungdaw border trade and it is the second largest export product with 224 tons of carp fish worth over US$200,000 during November, according to the office of the Director of the Manugdaw border trade.

It exported 319 tons of carp fish worth about US$300,000 in October and the export amount in November is a little reduced.

Myanmar is exporting onions, variety kinds of fish, dried fish and betel nuts in addition to carp fish through Maungdaw border trade.

The carp fish is carried from Yangon to Rakhine State with cold storage trucks to export from Sittwe and Maungdaw border trade centers. However the advantage of Maungdaw border trade center is to export products using powered schooners which can carry 20 or 30 tons of cargos daily.

“The trucks can carry five or six tons of fish and powered schooners from Maungdaw can export fish without delay,” said a fish trader.

Maungdaw border trade center exported over US$1.6 million worth of products including carp fish during November.

At the present, the arrival of cold storage trucks in Maungdaw border trade center is decreased.
